here's a pretty horrible one that is unfolding on the FT86 forum right now: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

TLDR summary: Guy went in for 7,500 mile service and they used transmission fluid instead of oil. Ruined the car and are now offering him pretty much nothing. Read through the posts and you can see just how bad it is.

I read this the same day I'm taking mine in for the 7,500 miles service... kinda like watching Jaws before going to the beach. I'd better double check that the service tech knows which barrel has oil and which has trans. fluid. lol

What I like to do with something like that is joke about it with the service techs. Can you believe this story on the net? This guy brought his car in for service and they used trans fluid instead of oil! Wow what an idiot! HAHAHAHA, they'll laugh at the idiot as well.

I wonder the extent of the damage though. I mean, at low revs, and stuff...idk. Plus, if they immediately flush everything really well and re-fill it and extend his warranty to 100K, if anything happens they are on the hook right?

They should have been on the hook for this screw up plain as day, but clearly they're trying to dodge it. Like the guy says in the thread, I'd be worried about what sort of service he would end up receiving under that 100k mile warranty.

yeah I kept the tab open over night so I can keep an eye on it though, looks like a nutty situation. Much worse than the Mustang run at high rpm's for a mile that made FP news

not really. Lots of bickering between people about whether trans fluid would hurt the engine, why the guy thinks he deserves so much more than "being made square" blah blah, there's 6 pages now.

Owner was supposed to meet GM of dealer yesterday afternoon, he hasn't spoke again in the forum since then though.

Best part was the one guy saying it was going to ruin the value of a future collector car by having a non-numbers matching engine! LOL

Even the FRS fanboi's over there were like, "you're an idiot, it's a sub 30k car that's massed produced through a major auto maker, it's not a future high-end collectible".
